Sarah T. McCain

Attorney Sarah McCain is an associate with Family Law Advocates, P.A, and dedicates her solely practicing family law cases. Over the course of almost 15 years as an attorney, Sarah has helped hundreds of clients deal with their divorce, child custody, and child support matters. In addition to her duties as a family law attorney, she also serves as the client liaison for the Family Law Advocates. In that role, Sarah is available to answer questions or concerns clients might have regarding their cases or any aspect of our representation. Of course her primary role as a senior associate attorney is to diligently represent Tampa Bay divorce and custody clients.

Sarah is licensed to practice law in Florida and Colorado. With each case, she works hard to protect her clients’ rights and interests. With well over a decade of experience as a family law litigator, Attorney McCain zealously advocates for her clients while helping them with simple and complex aspects of divorce, child custody, child support, time sharing, modifications, and many other family law matters. As a result of her years of practicing family law, Sarah has acquired significant skill in dealing with the division complex marital assets and other financial aspects of divorce, such as alimony. She derives personal satisfaction in a job well done and believes that the one-on-one assistance she is able to give people fuels her passion for family law. Sarah is a skilled trial attorney and welcomes the chance to gain her clients just results in the courtroom. Before ever heading to trial, she works hard to get their cases settled. Each case she handles is approached in an honest and thorough manner. Sarah strives for great communication with her clients and believes the better informed they are, the better the she and the client can work as a team. In the end, she measures her success by the results and outcomes she achieves for her clients.

Sarah has spent the entirety of her highly experienced legal career practicing family law. Seeking to expand her practice base and a change of scenery, she’s transitioned to practicing in the Tampa Bay area, after years of serving as a senior associate attorney in Colorado. Sarah works passionately towards getting her clients the judgments and orders they deserve. She believes in thorough preparation for each and every court hearing for the benefit of her clients. Moreover, Sarah understands the benefits that flow to the clients from having a good rapport with the family law courts in the community. Recognizing both the importance of time with your children and the necessity of a stable financial future, Sarah is here to meet all of your family law needs.

Attorney McCain has made Florida her home since 2021. While she is new to the state, she has years of valuable family law experience behind her. Sarah started her legal career in Colorado, in 2007, as an associate attorney for our Colorado, sister firm, Plog & Stein, P.C. Upon passing the Colorado bar in 2007, she immediately began helping people as a family law attorney. Now in her second decade of practice, she has proven to be an invaluable asset to her clients.

Sarah McCain was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate and law degrees, obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the Broad College of Business and her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University’s College of Law. During law school, she worked at Legal Services of South Central Michigan, focusing on domestic violence cases, and at the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Before delving into practice in both Florida and Colorado, Sarah was determined to work as an attorney in Michigan. She passed the Michigan bar exam in 2006. After a visit to Colorado, she decided it was time for a change of scenery and headed out west. Initially working as a family law paralegal while she studied for the Colorado bar, Sarah became familiar with divorce and child custody cases. By 2007, she started building her caseload in the courts throughout the Denver metropolitan area. Now also licensed in Florida, Sarah is one of three Family Law Advocates attorneys licensed in multiple states.

During the week, Sarah enjoys helping her clients resolve their family law issues. Her weekends are devoted to her family. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys kid activities, anything beach related, and exploring Florida. She also loves watching Big Ten football and basketball (and cheering for her Michigan State Spartans). She’s also committed to embracing the Buccaneers, though it may take her a while.
