One of the founding members of Family Law Advocates, P.A., Laura B. Stein, serves as the managing partner for the firm. In this capacity, Laura’s duties include various oversight functions and dealing with all financial aspects of the firm. With over two decades of experience managing law firms, Ms. Stein puts her organizational and leadership skills to good use providing support for the attorneys and staff. Prior to assuming her current role, Ms. Stein’s legal career primarily consisted of representing clients in family law and probate matters in Colorado.

Laura first became licensed to practice law in 1996, having successfully passed the Colorado bar. Immediately thereafter, she started studying to for the Florida bar exam, which she passed in 1997. Initially, she clerked in the Denver Probate Court for the now retired Honorable C. Jean Stewart. After roughly a year of working in the court, Laura went into private practice. In addition to gaining experience working in the estate planning field, she started delving into the family law arena, taking on divorce, child custody, and child support cases. In 1999, Ms. Stein left her prior firm to form the Denver based law firm of Plog & Stein, P.C. Since 2001, Plog & Stein has helped thousands of people deal with their family law matters. Since that time, Ms. Stein has served in a managing partner capacity.

Laura was born in Denver, Colorado, but grew up primarily in south Florida. As a child, she excelled in competitive swimming, receiving various scholarship offers to multiple NCAA Division 1 schools. Placing academics over athletics, she obtained her undergraduate degree from Tufts University, in Boston. Upon graduating, she decided it was time to return to Florida. Laura graduated law school early from Nova Southeastern University, in Davie, Florida. She then returned to Colorado to start her legal career.

Over the years, Ms. Stein has maintained strong tied with Florida. With this in mind, it made sense to eventually start a family law firm here. As a result, Family Law Advocates, P.A. was formed. Though Ms. Stein does not actively take cases, she’s available to speak with clients regarding billing related matters or to answer any questions they may have regarding the firm’s representation and services.

Laura’s private time is spent enjoying her family. Her hobbies include travel, volunteering for school activities, and helping withIn various animal related charities.
